Campaign coverage still focuses on 'horse race'

According to a new report by Project for Excellence in Journalism and the Joan Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics, and Public Policy at Harvard University, mainstream news coverage of the 2008 presidential race has focused predominantly on just five candidates and offered next to no discussion on these select players public records or what these presidential hopefuls would do in office.

Check out the article Study: Campaign coverage still focuses on 'horse race' published last month in Editor & Publisher.

"The study reviewed 1,742 campaign stories that appeared between January and May 2007 in 48 different news outlets, which spanned print, online, network television, cable television, and radio."
